Old pickup is chrome sweet chrome

June 18, 2014

Tuesday morning this classic old 1950s pickup truck — I think it’s a GMC — was parked out front of Fairview’s Fire Hall No. 4 just off the east side of South Granville Street on 10th Avenue.

I particularly like the styling of the cab. The way the front windshield and rear window both wrap around the corners makes it seem there’s more glass than there really is.

As nice as it is — and it really is — it’s no longer such a novelty. Vintage pickup trucks like this are becoming a bit of a common sight. Perhaps classic pickups are the new Rottweiler.

Or in the case of firefighters, the new Dalmatian?

Whatever. I’ll never tire of seeing  over-the-top displays of automotive chrome. I think humans are hard-wired to drool over shiny things. I know I am. Click the images to see enlarged versions.
