A sign of despair or responsibility or both?

August 7, 2014

Someone went to some trouble to make the big signs I found yesterday in a dumpster up near Cambie Street.

They were nearly the size and shape of doors; made from thin, flimsy plywood and well-covered in black chalkboard paint.

All for these two throwaway messages scrawled in white chalk:

“The less I needed, the better I felt” and “when you stop doing things for fun you might as well be dead”.

If I didn’t know better — and I don’t — I’d say it was someone raising a family and paying off a mortgage. Click the image to enlarge it.
