Tenants evicted for facadification of 2975 Oak
Since the proposed redevelopment of the Santa Fe apartments at 2975 Oak Street was approved by Vancouver City Council back on May 20, the tenants have been living there on borrowed time.
Well, time ran out. Going by the building today, I saw that the tenants of the Santa Fe had some kind of moving sale over the weekend, but not apparently of their own volition.
A very moving letter, for all the wrong reasons
In the front yard of the building, I found a letter from Aquilini Properties to the tenants of the Santa Fe apartments. The letter was pinned to a cardboard sign buried in a pile of other discarded, frantically lettered, cardboard signs — moving sale signs — none of which had been there last Friday.
There is a note written along the top of the letter by a tenant to the effect that they had only received the copy of the letter on Friday, September 5, though it is dated on the bottom, Tuesday, September 2.
Under that they wrote: “Thanks for the help!!!”
The letter was about Tenant Yard Sales and It looks like it was thrust on the tenants quite suddenly.
Letter to all Tenants of 2975 Oak Street:
As the Tenant Yard Sales draws near, we would like to offer our assistance posting any notices or printing ads for you. We would be happy to assist you in making your yard sale a success. We ask that signs are not hung from windows or balconies as this is not permitted by Vancouver Bylaws.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
