Free gold, for a limited time only!

oak-sunrise-09-10

Five minutes. Not even. Maybe no more that three minutes before I started taking photos looking east on Oak Street, the sunrise this morning was magnificent.

Two blocks before I made it to a clear vantage point on Oak Street, north below West Broadway, the band of sky below the clouds was intense shimmering gold.

One block away it was merely brassy.

And finally on Oak, with the sun behind thick clouds, the formerly golden light was muted to the colour of  yellow-tinted foil, like you get in packs of cigarettes.

Really expensive cigarettes. Click the image to enlarge it.
