Going with the flow on Cambie Street

January 13, 2015

Late this afternoon I stopped on the corner of 10th Avenue and Cambie Street and took a bunch of photos looking north across the Cambie Bridge. The final composited panoramic image, rising from the corner of West Broadway Avenue to the clouds above the buildings downtown, wasn’t anything special.

But one virtue of creating large-field-of-view panoramic images by stitching multiple photos together is that I end up with big images — 11,520 pixels by 10,368 pixels in this instance. This gives me plenty of resolution and scope to explore.

I settled on using just a small detail of the intersection of West Broadway and Cambie — maybe 4 percent of the total panorama. The visual concentration in this part of the image carried most of the feeling of bustle and flow that had attracted my eye in the first place. Click the image to enlarge it.
