Who ya gonna call when McDonald’s free Wi-Fi doesn’t work?

February 8, 2015

When the free Wi-Fi doesn’t work at the McDonald’s (Canada) restaurant in the 1400 block of West Broadway Avenue you generally need to repeatedly pester the managers until they can find time to call Bell and ask a technician to reset something.

When you complain about the free Wi-Fi not working at the McDonald’s restaurant at Boundary Road and East Broadway Avenue, the staff hand you a business card which reads:

McDonald’s Wi-Fi powered by Bell
For any technical issues or questions regarding Wi-Fi
Please call

At the other end of the toll-free number is a call centre. The operator will listen to your problem and ask you for the store number which is found at the top of your receipt, between the address and the phone number.

When staff at the McDonald’s in the 1400 block of West Broadway need to get the Wi-Fi rebooted, the Bell Wi-Fi Technical Support number that they call is different: 1-866-768-8005.

The only obvious difference between these two Vancouver, B.C., McDonald’s is the owner/operator.

The McDonald’s at Boundary and East Broadway is operated by McDonald’s Canada while the store in the 1400 block of West Broadway is a franchise — one of five McDonald’s restaurants between the University Endowment Lands and Cambie Street that is owned and operated by a franchisee named John Marsh.
