In the thick of it last night

March 10, 2015

The most interesting image I caught of last night’s fog was taken at about 10:30 p.m., when it was as thick as it was going to get. What I like about the photo is how the pedestrians all look like the stick people from the traffic signs. Click the image to enlarge it.

    Very artistic shot!!

    • Thank you. I was lucky. I love my rugged 16 MP Pentax WG-3 (thank you Karen!) but isn’t so good after the sun goes down.

The best point-and-shoot camera I’ve had, where night and fog photography was concerned, was the first one I blogged with: an old, cheap “looking” Samsung S860 that I fished out of a dumpster. It was 2008-vintage, only 8.1 megapixels, took AA batteries and had a rotary mode dial. But it proved to have remarkable optics and sensitive sensors. I didn’t realize how good it was until after I’d ditched it for a new (ans surprisingly inferior) 20 MP Pentax.

The Samsung S860 did a wonderful job of capturing the trees, buses, spider webs and billboards during Vancouver’s awesome spell of fog in October of 2013!
