Going out on a limb with some ants

A double exposure of one ant’s progress.

I’ve taken to stopping by a certain tree in an alley just off Oak Street near West Broadway Avenue in order to watch a  group of ants go about their business.

The tree, growing beside a low-rise apartment building, is providing the ants with easy access to a second floor unit, via a limb, which brushes against the deck of the unit’s second floor balcony.

There are always ants making the two-way trip but I have no idea what they’re are up to. The ones I see hurrying back and forth along the tree limb are never carrying anything away from the apartment.

I doubt the ants call the place home. Perhaps they call it a restaurant, where they all go to get a good home-style meal. Click the images to enlarge them.

Focus!

Focus!

Better?

That’s better.
