All hail Vancouver’s wacky weather!

May 5, 2015
Crunchy under the feet! Out heavy spring rain liberally salted with left over winter hail.

Crunchy, cold spring rain liberally salted with left over winter hail.

Spring is going absolutely swimmingly here in Vancouver, B.C., let me tell you.

The torrential rain has let up but not forty minutes ago West Broadway Avenue was a raging watercourse. An hour more and who knows how much of Fairview may have been washed downhill into the Kitsilano neighbourhood.

The glacier-fed stream that was West Broadway.

To top it off, with summer mere weeks away, winter chose the moment of floodiest confusion to launch a last-minute sneak attack: all at once the bucketing rain started ice-bucketing hail!

Now that was really cold.

This was the sort of morning that almost guarantees we’ll be literally baking under achingly blue skies and blazing sunshine by 3 p.m. this afternoon. Click the images to enlarge them.

Maybe its something to do with the ‘Owning the weather in 2025’ research paper? Think that was a Lex Luther plot in a comic book, late ’60’s. Or maybe it was twilight zone…… Hmmm???
