A utility cover that looks rather un-weld
The streets of Vancouver were slick with ice cold rain today (December 23); so much so that it would’ve been easy to imagine how even the utility hole covers were wet and miserable — especially the one that I saw in the alley just off Ash Street, on the south side of West Broadway Avenue.
It appeared to look ’round and straight up into the falling rain with empty eyes and a steely fixed expression of frowning dismay.
Of course it would be silly to think that cast iron could be downcast about anything. I knew that it wasn’t really feeling bad. It was just welded that way. Click the image to enlarge it.
