Goodbye summer and good morning autumn
It’s nice to have Science officially confirm what our bones (and all the pumpkin-spiced promotions) have been telling us unofficially for over a week now.
Today (September 22) marks the Autumnal Equinox in the northern hemisphere—when the Sun crosses south of the celestial equator. Here in Vancouver, B.C., it officially became autumn at exactly 7:21 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
What this means, among other things, is that my photo—taken this morning at exactly 7:08 a.m., of the sunrise glaring off the east-facing signage of the 1400 block of West Broadway Avenue—is the very last photo of the summer of 2016!
Savour it as you drink your pumpkin spice latte. We won’t see its like for nearly a whole year. Click the image to enlarge it.
