The little snow creatures of 10th Avenue

December 6, 2016

Grazing snow white baby bighorn in a yard off Spruce St. and 10th Ave.

On Monday, November 5, while Vancouver’s first snowstorm in years fell on the prepared and unprepared alike and cars skidded and transit buses were few and far between, not everyone in the city fretted and fumed.

A handful of residents living along the 10th Avenue bikeway in the six blocks between Heather and Birch Street, apparently busied themselves building a number of curious little snow creatures.

Here, over 24 hours later, is some of what’s left of their strangely compelling handiwork.

“Everyone gets a hug, whether they want one or not”.

“If you’re looking for my nose, that’s it on the ground there”.

“Make sure that you get my buttons in the shot”.

“If you think I’m having a bad day today, come back tomorrow”.

“I know, the hours have not been kind”.
